Welcome to Katie's home on the web! Be forewarned, Travis calls this the "Worship Katie" page, LOL, and it basically gives Mom a chance to do what I so rarely can, blatantly brag on Katie! LOL We also had sooo many pictures of Katie that she needed her own page! Katie is part country girl, part girly girl, and all cowgirl! For those of you that have met her you know that her animals are the central part of her life. And most important of all to her is her beloved best friend and welsh pony, Jack Frost. Some of Katie's favorite things are to go shopping, swim, hang out with her friends, and go arrowhead hunting with her dad. She also loves to show her pony at local 4-H and saddle club shows, and in her first year of showing in the summer of 2005 she and Jack met their goal and won the overall high point award for the Shiloh Saddle Club! She won this by competeing in a series of shows held all summer long, and competed in everything the show offered, including Showmanship at Halter, Western Pleasure, and all speed events, like Barrel Racing, Katie's favorite!
Katie has worked very hard to achieve what she has, and we couldn't be more proud of her. When we purchased Jack Frost in September of 2004 he was a little bit of a spoiled pony, and wouldn't even trot without attempting to buck! With spunk and determination Katie began working with him every day, determined to turn him into a show pony by summer. And boy did she achieve her goal, and then some! With only Katie training him, and no parental interference, other than supervision, one year later he is a finished show pony who does equally well at a slow jog in western pleasure, or an extended trot for english classes, and who very quietly obeys all of Katie's cues. He has come a long way!
Katie just started Fifth Grade this fall and although her favorite subject is History, she is a straight "A" student and excells in all subjects. Her dream is to someday be a horse trainer or a farrier like her dad! But we tell her there will be plenty of time to choose her career! Katie's horse goals for the near future include learning to rope, and learning to jump, both of which she has a great start on!
